Lesson 2 : Sanding...

The next step after cutting is..............Sanding !!!

Yeah...for sanding there are some tool :
- Sandpaper
- Sanding sponge

- Modelling file

- Sanding Stick...

Now, I'll teach you to make sanding stick by yourself....

First...prepare glue, sand paper, cutter, and ice cream stick.
and then....cut the sandpaper ....

next...glue the sandpaper to the ice cream stick..

Done !!!

Sanding stick is used for flat area...
Now we are ready to start sanding.....

In Gunpla modelling, sanding is use to clean molding, spruee mark and seamline..

- molding : mold trace
why molding must be cleaned ?? Because it make our kit look like really a 'toy'..

- seamline & spruee mark...

Use the file to clean spruee mark if it can't be cleaned by sandpaper..

Be Careful !!! File is used for flat area only !!

And then you can continue sanding with sandpaper / sanding stick until the smoothest grid..

and.....the result is...!!

For sandpaper up to 800 grid, you can use wet sanding technique...

Wet sanding is sanding with wet sandpaper....it will make the sanding result smoother...^^

After sanding...you have to wash your kit's part with detergent for clean the part from oil and dust..
----->>after sanding and wash with detergent..

If the part is rounded....you can use sanding sponge..

So....the part can't be changed to square...

After clean the molding.....

Next Lesson : Snapfit and Seamline free kit....^^

Lesson 1 : Cutting...

In lesson 1, I'll explain to you how to cut gunpla. Before start cutting the parts, you must to read the manual carefully.
After that.................

Start cutting......

First I'll explain the parts name of your kits.....
explanation :
- Runner : this is the protector of the parts
- Gate : this is the place to cut
- Parts : this is parts to build your kit...^^

To cut the parts, you have to use side cutter..
Don't cut near the part..this is wrong position. It may broke your part.

This is the right position....
Cut the part near the runner....^^

So.....this is the result of the right position cut...
There is a rest of the gate.....

To clean the rest of the gate, be attention to this :
Explanation :
- A : is the wrong position, the progress of cutting has been done in thick side
- B : is the right position , the progress of cutting has been done in thin side

This is the right positon of cutting....

and this is the result of the right position cutting...
Yeah....cutting lesson has done !!! Keep learning to cut.....^^

What kind of tools are used in GunPla modelling ??

In the GunPla modelling, there are some basic tools someone must have.
The tools are :
- Side Cutter

For the side cutter, you can look the flat one and small size, it will make easier to cut.
- Modelling Knife

- Sandpaper
There's 2 kind tools for sanding. Sandpaper and sanding sponge. Sand paper is used for flat area, meanwhile sanding sponge is used for rounded area.
Sandpaper
For the Gunpla modelling, you can use 240, 400, 600, 800, 1000, and 1200 grid. It can be use from the lower grid to higher grid for max result.
Sanding Sponge

- Cement & Glue
Cement is used for plastic and glue is used for paper etc.

- Putty
- Clips

- Compressor & Airbrush
Compressor
Airbrush
For the airbrush, you can look for dual action airbrush....it is easier to paint the gunpla..
That's all of the Basic Modelling Tools........................next I'll explain how to use the tools.

What is "GunPla" ??

Do you ever heard "Gundam" ?? Gundam is robot anime from Japan. It's produced by Bandai.
In 1980, a groundbreaking new product appeared in Japan : the 1/144 scale RX-78 GUNDAM -- the very first GunPla. The Gunpla have continued to evolve ever since, introducing new technologies along with every gundam series. In addition to progressively increasing quality, the ease of assembly and the impact of the resulting product have continued to improve as well. The revolution began in 1995 with the debut of the "Master Grade" series, which set a new standard for the quality of Gundam models, and continued with the birth of the "Perfect Grade", which represents the pinnacle of the Gunpla series. Now there's a new version of the classic 1/144 scale Gunpla kits : "High Grade Universal Century" series. And that's not all !!!! The SD Gundam Series of cute renditions of the Gundam characters is being joined by "G-Generation" series. Stay tuned as the Gunpla continue to change and evolve !!!
